The commencement of the construction of Emérita and Tremisol on media

In early May 2023, BNZ announced the commencement of the construction of two solar power plants in the city of Mérida (Extremadura). The plants, named Emérita and Tremisol, will each have a total capacity of 9.6MW. Emérita is currently under construction, while Tremisol will be completed in summer 2024. This event garnered national attention due to the significance and value that the project will bring to the area.

These are BNZ’s second and third plants to be constructed in Spain, with plans to reach approximately 600 MWp capacity by 2026. Overall, BNZ aims to deploy an aggregate portfolio of more than 1.7 GW of solar PV in southern Europe by the end of 2026.

The clean energy generated by these two plants, occupying 18 hectares each and with a combined capacity of 19.2 MW, is expected to prevent the emission of 10,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year. It is also estimated that the construction phase will create a total of 140 direct and indirect jobs, involving more than 14 local contracted companies.

Media outlets such as HOY covered this development in both print and online formats.
