The Tremisol Solar plants, together with Emérita Solar, are the first solar plants inaugurated by BNZ in Mérida, Extremadura (Spain). They share a total capacity of 19.2 MW, evenly distributed at 9.6 MW each.
Both facilities span 36 hectares of land and contribute to renewable energy generation in the region. Their operation will avoid the emission of approximately 10,000 tons of CO₂ per year, saving emissions equivalent to 18,000 flights between Barcelona and Brussels.
The construction of Emérita and Tremisol plants has resulted in the creation of 140 direct and indirect jobs, achieved through collaboration with 14 local companies.
With a strong commitment to respecting local communities, BNZ has collaborated with territorial authorities to implement multiple projects that protect local wildlife and plant life.
Highlights include the annual radio tracking of two white storks from a nearby colony during the first five years of operations; monitoring birdlife to manage amphibian and reptile populations inside and outside the plant; and installing beehives to support bees—an essential species for biodiversity, food security, and the global economy—in response to threats posed by climate change, pesticide use, and habitat destruction.
BNZ also emphasizes the importance of social development for community well-being. It actively supports the Iuxtanam Sports Club in Mérida, a facility that serves as more than a sports center for its users. Through canoeing and sports training programs, the club fosters integration, values-based education, and environmental awareness, encouraging a healthy and responsible lifestyle aligned with BNZ’s principles.
Since 2023, BNZ has also collaborated with the NGO Ayuda en Acción to improve the employability of young people in vocational training, particularly those in vulnerable conditions. This initiative is part of BNZ’s “Proyecto Impulsa” (“Boost Project”), aimed at equipping students with essential skills for their future careers, as well as providing psychological support and professional guidance.
