Located in the Lazio region, the solar plant is currently under development and will be BNZ’s third facility in Italy. Once operational, the Mandrione plant will generate enough electricity to meet the annual needs of around 17,000 people – a tenth of the population of Perugia. The clean energy produced will prevent the emission of 24,670 tonnes of CO2 per year, equivalent to eliminating 60,000 return flights between Milan and Lecce.
In addition, the energy generated will save approximately 14 million cubic metres of natural gas per year, which would otherwise be consumed by combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plants to produce the same amount of energy.
We estimate that the construction of the Mandrione plant will create between 270 and 370 direct and indirect jobs by 2024, making a positive contribution to the local economy.
