BNZ advances its ESG strategy and improves its GRESB 2025 score by 24%

BNZ, an independent power producer (IPP) that develops, builds, and operates renewable energy projects in Spain, Italy, and Portugal, has achieved a 24% improvement in its Management Score in the 2025 GRESB Infrastructure rating, reaching a total of 35 out of 40 possible points, its best result to date.

This achievement places BNZ above the sector average (32 points) and the overall participant average (34 points)consolidating its position as one of Europe’s leading companies in ESG management, governance, and performance within the renewable energy generation sector.

The improvement reflects the effective implementation of BNZ’s ESG Master Plan, focused on strengthening four key pillars evaluated by GRESB’s Management component: leadership, internal policies, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.

Over the past year, BNZ has reinforced its sustainability oversight and leadership by creating an ESG Committee and integrating individual sustainability objectives into employee performance evaluations, fostering a corporate culture grounded in responsibility, transparency, and continuous improvement.

The company has also expanded its internal governance framework with the adoption of new policies, including the Modern Slavery Policy, Social Policy, and Tree Management Policy, all aligned with international standards on human rights, ethics, and responsible environmental management.

In the area of risk management, BNZ made significant progress through a climate risk assessment carried out earlier this year, enabling the company to anticipate impacts and strengthen the resilience of its corporate strategy. In addition, BNZ has improved traceability and sustainable procurement practices, conducting ESG audits of key suppliers such as solar panel manufacturers.

BNZ has also enhanced its mechanisms for dialogue and transparency with stakeholders. Notable initiatives include a community funding strategy to support local development, a materials traceability system for its supply chain, and the reinforcement of its whistleblowing channel, ensuring confidentiality and integrity across all levels of the organization.

“Our progress in the GRESB ranking shows that sustainability is not just a goal—it’s the foundation of our entire business model. At BNZ, we are committed to leading with rigor, transparency, and accountability, driving responsible management that creates environmental, social, and economic value,” said Luis Selva, CEO of BNZ.

With a portfolio of more than 2 GW of multi-technology renewable projects in various stages of development, construction, and operation across Spain, Italy, and Portugal, BNZ continues to strengthen its role as an active player in Europe’s energy transition. The company champions a sustainable, diversified, and resilient growth model, combining solar, wind, and storage technologies in line with its mission to produce 100% renewable energy and contribute to the decarbonization of the energy system.

To date, BNZ has avoided more than 574,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions and generated over 6,500 direct and indirect jobs across the countries in which it operates—reaffirming its commitment to environmental, economic, and social progress.
